Industry turns transparent

The British meat industry's British Excellence Week which starts on June 27 is an unprecedented collaboration, according to its honorary chairman Robin Pooley. Pooley, who chaired the government's Meat Industry Red Tape Working Group in 1999, said the series of roadshows marked the first time all areas of the British meat industry had presented a united front in his 40 years in the industry. Consumers will be offered access to plants and scientific sites. Pooley said: "Never before has there been an opportunity to gain such a clear insight into the industry." {{NEWS }}
