A young company specialising in low-carb food has launched its first nationwide range.
Health food chains Holland & Barrett and GNC are listing three cake mixes from Carbophobia, founded by Jenny Warden in March 2003.
The cake mixes are luxury dark chocolate, lemon and coconut.
Carbophobia has already achieved listings in Waitrose with two cake mixes and a bread mix. They went into three stores six weeks ago.
“We have endeavoured to provide a delicious and completely foolproof range of products which are very similar to their normal equivalents,” said Warden.
Carbophobia has plans to expand its range with low-carb instant mash and a breakfast cereal by the autumn.
“Some people are happy to live on shakes and bars, but we believe the majority of people would rather eat real meals which are just low in carbohydrate, and that will be our focus,” Warden added.
