Cake manufacturer Inter Link Foods has warned that its profit for the year to May 6, 2006, will be below market expectations.

In a trading update, the company said: “April is traditionally one of the company's busiest trading periods, however significant promotional activity anticipated for the month has not been as successful as had been anticipated and this has had an adverse effect on trading.”

It added that it expected year-on-year pre-tax profit growth of no less than 25%.
