Ireland’s food and drink industry must approach recent developments in the European Union regarding the accession of 10 new member states and CAP reform as a great opportunity, according to Irish agriculture minister Joe Walsh.
In an interview for The Grocer’s supplement on Ireland (free with this week’s issue), Walsh said EU enlargement meant great opportunities for Irish producers. “There will be 106 million more consumers for our producers to go at.”
Meanwhile, he said CAP reform was an opportunity for Ireland to build on its reputation for top-quality produce.
