Irn-Bru is launching its biggest marketing campaign in England in a bid to develop shoppers’ taste for the Scottish brand south of the border.
Manufacturer Barr Soft Drinks is forking out £5m on a TV, radio, print, outdoor and online campaign, after a marketing drive in the north east last year resulted in volumes growing by more than a third in the Newcastle area.
The two comic TV ads, which launch this week, urge people to try the soft drink, using the
strapline, ‘Have you tried the phenomenal taste of Irn-Bru?’
One of the commercials turns the tables on football-pitch streakers and another features a granny popping out of a bag on an airport luggage carousel. They were directed by Jonny Campbell of ‘Shameless’ and ‘Phoenix Nights’ fame.
Barr Soft Drinks commercial director Jonathan Kemp, said: “This campaign is all about celebrating Irn-Bru and trying to get more people to try it and love it.
“Our investment represents our commitment to its growing success and we’re looking forward to our focus on England.”
