Irwin's Bakery takes a million food miles off the road

Irwin’s has streamlined its distribution channels

Northern Irish bakery Irwin’s has slashed one million food miles from its supply chain after overhauling its distribution model.

It estimated it had cut CO2 emissions by more than 138 tonnes by using a greater number of smaller logistics partners in key distribution areas.

“We decided to streamline our distribution channels,” said logistics manager JP Carvill. “This has resulted in improved efficiency in the supply chain.”
