Sir; Having had a pleasant trip around our recently refurbished local store on Sunday we approached the checkouts at 3.45pm to find long queues of shoppers. Some minutes later our operator passed back a sign indicating we were the last people she would serve.
There was heated dialogue between the chap behind us, who had been in the queue for a while, and the operator. Finally he pushed his trolley away in disgust and left the store, probably for the last time.
I spoke to one of the staff to ask that the management were made aware of the situation at the tills. This had no effect.
Retailers must not default on the promise! Well we all know that queuing is an issue and in this store where a fortune has been spent to get customers in, staff are content to disappoint.
