Northern c-store multiple Jacksons is getting closer to its goal of doubling its portfolio in the next five years with store number 100 due in August. MD Angus Oughtred said Jacksons was opening the store on August 2 in York. It is also looking at between 12 and 15 other sites. The Nisa supplied chain wants to hit a total of 200 outlets in the next five years as well as refurbishing its existing store portfolio by 2003. There will be a strong emphasis on fresh in store as Jackson wants to double its fresh business over the next three years. Oughtred said: "We will be stretched, but we can do it. We are identifying a member of staff in every store to take ownership of the chilled food section, giving them full training. We want to work with any chilled supplier who comes forward. We are prepared to adopt unique concepts to meet our growth aspirations for the category." {{NEWS }}
