The Fresh Produce Consortium has announced that Nigel Jenney, managing director of produce supplier Univeg, will replace Doug Henderson as chief executive when he retires next month.
Henderson has occupied the role since the organisation was set up 12 years ago. Before that he worked for Geest.
Jenney began his career in fresh produce in 1982 at the department of Agriculture & Fisheries for Scotland in Glasgow and Aberdeen. He moved to HJ Heinz in 1988, then East Riding Farm Produce in 1996 as MD before taking up his role at Univeg.
FPC president Dick Brighten said: “We are delighted to have secured the services of Nigel who brings depth of experience to the FPC.” Brighten said the FPC offered “sincere thanks” to Doug Henderson for his excellent and professional job.
