Bankrupt retailer Kmart has started cutting jobs at its corporate headquarters and said it planned to have completed the process by the end of March.

The company said in January that it planned to lay off a number of employees at its HQ in Troy, Michigan, as it shuts 316 stores - affecting 30,000 other employees - as part of its reorganisation.

Kmart closed 283 stores last year after filing for bankruptcy in late January.
