Peter Clarke, founder of Kent Frozen Foods and a former president of the British Frozen Food Federation, has died after a long illness.

Clarke was highly influential in helping to establish frozen food lines for caterers. He set up Kent Frozen Foods in 1961 and built it into one of the largest independent frozen food wholesalers in the UK, later expanding into chilled and ambient.

He was also an instigator and founder of Caterforce, set up in 1991 to counter the growing power of the national foodservice distributors, and president of the BFFF from 1993 to 1995.
