Staff at Islay's Port Askaig distillery were taken aback when the double of the sailor on the label of Bunnahabhain malt appeared on the island.
Islay has a tradition of islanders going off to work at sea, hence the sailor motif. The double turned out to be US tourist Dan Sillers from Colorado, a fan of Scotch whisky. "He walked in out of the blue. He was standing near our branded minibus and given the striking resemblance, it was like he was looking in a mirror," said distillery production manager John Maclellan.
Sillers has agreed to do some promotional work in exchange for a lifetime supply.
