Channel Islands retailer Le Riche’s Stores unveiled 7.8% like-for-like sales growth for the six months ended August 2.

During the period Le Riche’s, which is part of Jersey-based conglomerate CI Traders, acquired two new stores in Jersey, which trade as Benest and Fineprice, and a further three forecourts sites - two in Jersey and one in Guernsey, bringing the total number of forecourts to 11.

Le Riche will also be opening a second Checkers store in Jersey at the end of 2004, while its new Checkers store at Admiral Park on Guernsey was said to be “progressing well”.

Pre-tax profit at CI Traders was up 15% to £9.2m on turnover up 8.4% to £140.5m for the six months to August 2, 2003. CI Traders chairman Tom Scott added that the merger between Le Riche, CI Traders and Ann Street back in October 2002 was “progressing in line with our best expectations and at a rate with which we are comfortable”.
