The Wholesale Confectionery and Tobacco Alliance says the government's White Paper on liquor licensing A Time for Reform' is " a good start, but could do better". WCTA chief executive John Bowden said: "These proposals will bring enhanced trading opportunities to the small store sector, making it easier to obtain and manage a licence." The White Paper has not touched on restrictions on the sale of alcohol from forecourt convenience stores, which Bowden says places them at a competitive disadvantage. The WCTA is also lobbying for amendments to proposals to licence wholesalers. Bowden said: "The costs involved could be as high as £1k, and would only serve to make the supply chain uncompetitive." {{NEWS }}
