UK cashpoint systems provider Link has moved a step closer to its vision of using the network to sell mobile phone top-ups by signing a second ATM supplier.
ATM company Cardpoint is to prepare its 400-machine estate to sell Vodafone UK mobile phone top-ups. Rival Moneybox has been working on technological enhancements since September.
The proposed service will allow pre-pay mobile phone users to add airtime to their handsets. Link will receive a proportion of the transaction through its membership fees.
Link operations and development director Nigel Wright said discussions had begun with the other mobile networks and many of the 50 Link member institutions.
