National lottery operator Camelot has revealed that sales of its main game Lotto fell 12% last year but claimed the decline would be off-set by demand for its new games and products.

For the year to March 31, Camelot’s pre-tax profit fell 26.8% to £42.3m from £57.8m as group sales declined 5.4% to £4.57bn.

Lotto sales fell to £3.39bn, while non-Lotto sales grew by 21% to £1.2bn.

Camelot said £1.38bn went to good causes compared with some £1.5bn last year.
