Cott Beverages is first to market with the first low calorie version of an energy drink. Red Rooster Light, while claiming to have twice the taurine of other energy drinks, has less than 15 calories per can. The Mintel Carbonated Drinks Report says that 41% of carbonated soft drinks sold contain so sugar. But Cott says that "all functional energy drinks available in the UK are full of sugar, meaning that the category has effectively been closed to diet' consumers".
