A new £1.5m added-value seafood speciality production facility is now fully operational at Macrae Foods in Fraserburgh.
The new ‘Deli Area’ brings the factory to the leading edge of seafood development and production in the UK, and marks the final phase of a £5.4m upgrade at Fraserburgh.
MD John Whalen said: “This spend completes the project to prioritise our focus on growing areas of the UK seafood market.
“This is part of our strategy for Macrae to be the UK’s leading innovator in seafood speciality products.”
The new facility will produce
lines ranging from salmon terrines and pâtés to Christmas speciality lines and ground-breaking innovation in party foods, said the company.
Several launches have been lined up for M& S, Somerfield, Asda and Makro.
Macrae has also developed a range of fresh pâtés for export markets in France and Belgium.
The upgrade includes a new primary salmon processing and packing line.
