IPC launched Your Life this week, a major new women's weekly that aims to show women who have brought up a family, how to find their own life hence the title. Publishing director Sandy Gale says: "More than five million women in the UK today are ABC1 and aged between 35 and 60. In four years' time, eight out of 10 women will be over 35. They have a total personal income of £99bn a year and 40% of them are chief income earners. They are consumers with immense spending power. "Your Life expresses the needs, interests and attitudes of these modern, older women. It's clearly targeted and creates a new genre of quality weekly that is the key to driving and expanding the market." Content of the new weekly is divided into themed "zones". For the launch issue this means indulgence, body & soul, life support and life matters. The issue also has a 12-page news section and an eight-page body & soul supplement. IPC Connect managing director Linda Lancaster-Gaye says: "Your Life is a significant launch into an emerging sector that will further drive ABC1 growth for our portfolio of market-leading women's weeklies. From our strong position at the heart of the women's weeklies market we are committed to expanding the sector and we believe this is exactly what this new quality weekly will do." The launch will be supported by a celebrity based £2m five-week marketing campaign featuring Twiggy and built around the magazine's strapline Your Life  Live it Up'. Press and radio advertising will also be supported by a retail marketing campaign at point of sale, and a four-page mailer will be sent to key retailers. The first three issues will be priced at 75p; normal price will be £1.20. Distributor is Marketforce. - At the same time as the launch of Your Life, IPC announced the merger of Woman's Realm into sister title Woman's Weekly from issue dated May 1. Woman's Realm has been published since 1956 but has performed badly in recent times. {{CTN }}
