After months of secrecy surrounding a launch known only as Project Helena, H Bauer has announced the name of its new fortnightly women's glossy magazine  Real. Launch date was Tuesday, and the magazine is priced £1.50, is in A4 format and perfect bound. The publisher says research has shown that the fortnightly frequency of Real will be "highly successful in the UK". H Bauer has set an initial print run of 900,000. Target readership is aged between 25 and 40-plus, and retailers are being asked to display Real alongside the celebrity magazines. A major national TV campaign broke on Monday, and will be supported by press and Adshell advertisements. In addition merchandising teams will be out and about in major multiple grocers while CTNs and c-stores will be supplied with major up-front display and PoS material to boost sales. Real editor Janice Turner says: "The exciting women's glossies are fine to look at but they only take about five minutes to flick through and have absolutely no relevance to women's lives. "Millions of intelligent magazine reading women have felt short-changed. "Throughout our extensive research, women in the UK repeatedly said the same thing: We like the look and feel of glossy magazines, but we want something to read'." {{CTN }}
