Island Seafare's Alfred Pier factory in Port St Mary, Isle of Man, has reopened after being devastated by heavy seas and gales in February.
The factory processes the famous Manx Queenies and scallops, supplying them fresh and frozen to trade and retail customers throughout Europe.
Spring storms severely damaged the factory and destroyed a great deal of production equipment and fish. The company moved as many orders as possible to its second Port St Mary factory and the rest to other processors to keep its loyal customers supplied. With the help of the Isle of Man government, which owns the site, Island Seafare has reopened the factory, rebuilt and requipped.
"It was a difficult time," said Tim Croft, md of Island Seafare, but with the help of our customers and suppliers, a team effort has really paid off. We are ready in time for the new Queenie season."
