Martin McColl has completed the roll-out of PayPoint services to its 1,300 CTNs and c-stores.

"We are always looking at ways we can improve the service we offer our customers and making the full range of payments and other services from PayPoint available to all our customers is another way to achieve that," said Paul Taylor, Martin McColl general manager, marketing.

"PayPoint is the leading branded cash payments provider in the UK and is well recognised by our customers, so we are already seeing increased footfall as more customers see that we have this service."

Martin McColl, which began the roll-out in February, is now planning to install a new technology under development that will integrate PayPoint with its EPoS. The new system, P-pod, will see the yellow PayPoint box into which retailers key in transactions and print off receipts replaced with a smaller card reader that can be plugged into an EPoS system. The system is being designed to make it quicker and easier for retailers to put PayPoint transactions through the till.

"P-pod will allow us to offer bill payment facilities at every till and save us an enormous amount of time and effort daily," said Taylor.

PayPoint's retail strategy director Mike Igoe added: "The system is the biggest change to our industry for some time and it's something we are excited about."
