Some might think that Paul Griffiths, MD of Inter Link Foods, would be too busy cooking up designs on the cake market to worry about anything else.
But as it happens, Griffiths has an intriguing sideline. He and his wife Elaine have completed the first stage of restoring an old church and monastery in Gorton, Manchester, which was originally built in 1871.
Griffiths spotted that the building had fallen into disrepair during a train journey. Elaine gave up a marketing career to restore the monument and the couple set up a charitable trust for the task ten years ago.
After it is finished next year, they plan to hire it out for events.
