Continued reduction of microbiological hazards in meat, and strict enforcement of the BSE controls in licensed plants, are among the performance targets set for the Meat Hygiene Service for 2001-2002. The targets have been approved by the Food Standards Agency after full public consultation. New targets require the MHS to strictly enforce the Over Thirty Month Rule in licensed plants hand in hand with its work to prevent Specified Risk Materials entering the food chain. {{M/E MEAT }}
