Mentzendorff is planning to put life back into the LBV port market with a repackaging and price cutting exercise on Taylor's. The pack for the newly released 1995 LBV has been changed to celebrate the category's 30th anniversary. Various producers claim to have introduced the first LBV but Taylor's maintains it introduced the first commercial style in 1970. The price has been reduced by £1 to £9.99. Managing director Adrian Bridge said: "Price points for port have remained the same despite a 10% increase in duty. "LBV prices have started to creep up as a result of small harvests in the Douro, but we can take advantage of the strength of the British pound." A Mentzendorff spokesman added that people were buying on price points and trading down to other styles. {{DRINKS }}
