GW Padley Vegetables is introducing a new concept to the frozen meal accompaniments category  Microveg pouches which combine microwaving and steaming. The bright green packs contain six 115g laminated pouches  two of garden peas, two country vegetable mixes, and two sweetcorn. Each uses the patented VACSYS system, which involves valves at each end of the packaging to allow excess steam to escape during heating while maintaining the pressure inside. The process, which takes around three minutes, aims to cook the vegetables evenly and retain the moisture, texture, flavours and vitamins which can sometimes be lost during traditional boiling. The Lincolnshire-company, a big name in foodservice, said the technology had been used in tubs before but Microveg marked its pouch debut. Rsp: £1.59. {{P&P }}
