Midcounties Co-operative Society has rolled out its local food scheme to all its stores.
The Local Harvest scheme had been available in 25 Midcounties' supermarkets but is being extended to a further 178 stores, including c-stores, across Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Worcestershire, said Patrice Garrigues, ethical trading manager for the co-op.
Products from more than 30 suppliers are included in the initiative. A minimum of 80% of a product's ingredients must have come from local sources for it to qualify.
"For some suppliers, this will increase their distribution by more than 200%," said Garrigues.
