Scottish confectioner Millar McCowan has fallen into administration.

The company, which is best known for its Highland Toffee and Wham brands, said that it would be closing its two manufacturing sites in Stenhousemuir and Broxburn with the loss of 149 jobs.

Graham Wallace, CEO of Millar McCowan, said: “This is a difficult and competitive sector of the UK confectionery market and so, unfortunately, we cannot keep something running that is not working commercially.”
