Heather Mills, the ex-wife of former Beatle and meat-free campaigner Sir Paul McCartney, has bought her own vegetarian food business.
The Redwood Wholefood Company, a leading vegan-friendly food supplier to the health trade, announced the acquisition yesterday but did not disclose the sum.
Company director Ros Garland said the acquisition would help Corby-based Redwood expand its business into other markets.
"Heather has always rated Redwood as the best producer of plant-based animal-free foods in terms of ethics, the integrity of the company and brand and quality of its products," said Garland.
"The acquisition will enable us to accelerate growth of the Redwood brand around the world and allow Heather to promote veganism globally through her own restaurants and brands."
Mills claimed she had been a fan of Redwood "for many years".
"For me, buying the company is a dream come true," she said.
