Confectionery manufacturer Finlay’s is aiming to add a breath of fresh air to the slimming arena.

The Manchester-based outfit has come up with Slim-Mints, which it claims can help would-be slimmers shed pounds by reducing the craving for food and speeding up metabolic rate.

Spokesman Kevin Webb said the sugar-free mints contained two vital ingredients - L-carnitine, an amino acid solution which breaks down fatty acids, and chromium polynicotinate which suppresses appetite while helping to regulate insulin levels and glucose metabolism.

The mints are rolling out to stores now with the company claiming to have generated interest among supermarket buyers. They come in a tin containing 45 tablets, rsp: £2.95.
