Marketing and IT director Stephen Thompson announced the investment during the 49-store chain’s annual conference in Dundee this week.
He said £230,000 was being spent immediately on putting EPoS in all stores.
A further £300,000 will be spent on setting up a two-way intranet system at stores and the head office. Thompson said: “No one else in Scotland has a two-way intranet system which takes information to and from the head office.”
Phase one of the launch will take place in February 2004, when sales data is put on the site. In phases two and three, due for completion by June 2004, marketing and training information and banking and payroll systems will put on the site. From September next year, the site will be expanded with further administrative functions. The project will complete in early 2005.
Thompson said: “We are investing in the future, in efficiency and communications.”
