Scottish convenience chain Morning Noon & Night is going on the acquisition trail as it reports record operating profit of £1.25m for the year to March 22, 2002. Chairman and founder Eddie Thompson said the group now needed more good store acquisitions to continue its progress, and is preparing to announce its 45th store in the next few weeks. He added: "Conditions are very tough out there with the large multiples vying with one another for the maximum share of the retail trade. We believe we are outperforming the majority of our convenience rivals." MN&N net profit was up 10.4% to £850,000 on last year on sales of £41.5m due to increased sales in beers, soft drinks, crisps and snacks, chilled foods, ready meals, and mobile phone top ups. {{NEWS }}
