Scottish convenience chain Morning Noon & Night has reported record annual profits despite "unbelievable competition", said chairman Eddie Thompson.
The company reported that net profit was up 6.3% to £902,000 on sales of £44.946m for the year to March 2003, with turnover increases seen on beers, crisps & snacks, chilled foods and ready meals. Thompson said he was delighted that the company was "well ahead of the majority of retailers in our particular sector of the marketplace".
Morning Noon & Night plans to continue to add "quality sites" to its current portfolio of 47 sites, with two new acquisitions soon to be announced. Five stores were refurbished during 2003.
Turnover continues to improve with annual sales now standing at £48m.
