Scottish c-store boss Stanley Morrice has landed a new role as Scotland director for Martin McColl.

The post is the second role Morrice has picked up since his upmarket deli chain McLeish collapsed in January, having become a non-executive director and consultant for the David Sands chain in February.

Morrice is understood to have been given a wide remit with Martin McColl that includes expanding the range and improving its local credentials. He is also expected to bring his knowledge of premium, fresh and chilled products to bear in range improvements. The company currently has 180 stores north of the border, 60 of which are c-stores, with the remainder made up of CTNs. However the company has expressed a desire to focus more heavily on c-stores.

Morrice has a long track record in the Scottish retail sector. He joined c-store chain Aberness in 1994, becoming MD in 1999.
