Metro is running a massive poster campaign in Moscow to publicise the opening of its first cash and carries. The two depots open next month as part of a $150m plan to open six C&Cs in Moscow by the end of 2002. Openings in other Russian cities are also on the cards. Each depot will have a sales area of 10,000 sq m and carry 15,000 food and non food items  60% multinational brands, the rest local. Metro said it was capitalising on the recovering economy. While more international retailers were setting up shop in Moscow, there was room for everybody. "Sure, competition will grow but to the advantage, finally, of the population," said a spokeswoman. {{NEWS }}
