Wholesalers and retailers across the UK have hailed the second National Independents’ Day, organised by the Federation of Wholesale Distributors this Wednesday, as a success.
Coverage and advertisements for the FWD’s ongoing My Shop Is Your Shop Campaign reached 18 million consumers through national and regional press and radio. The FWD’s PR Action Group is meeting this month to plan further strategy.
The FWD is also recruiting retailers to march on Downing Street to submit research showing the impact of superstores on UK high streets.
The study, by Cranfield School of Management, claims 80% of people surveyed believe large retail chains are threatening the identity of local communities.
