Independents have welcomed a government report on the operation of the national lottery published this week. Eddie Thompson, chairman of the Scottish Retail Consortium, represented retailers' interests at the inquiry which led to the report. He said: "We are delighted. The report accepts that independent retailers are the most important part of the lottery distribution chain." The report from the culture, media and sport committee says: "We welcome the much needed additional income to independent retailers provided by lottery sales." The report recommends retailers continue to be the main distribution method for lottery sales. {{NEWS }}
