Hard discounter Netto has introduced a convenience range to all 136 stores, following successful trials.

Managing director Thomas Jellum said Netto customers had proved convenience food had a role in discount stores.

Netto’s rangeincludes budget sandwiches and a range of ready meals such as a microwaveable Chinese takeaway.

The discounter has, however, closed three newsagent concessions which it had run as a trial. Jellum said: "We experienced problems because our supply chain did not fit with the distributor’s set up."
