Scott Malcolm has this week become deputy managing director of CJ Lang, as well as taking his place on the main board of directors.
Malcolm joined the group as chief accountant in 1987, became a director in 1993 and subsequently held the positions of director of accounting and group finance director. Over the last 12 months, he has been involved in CJ Lang’s acquisition of 17 AJ Gillespie stores and six Argee stores.
His new role has been created as part of the group’s succession planning. Malcolm will report directly to chief executive David Walker, who is currently acting as managing director following the recent departure of Ed Ferguson.
Malcolm said: “I have been very fortunate to work for such a progressive organisation over the years, demonstrated by its turnover growth from £79m when I joined, increasing to £226m last year.”
CJ Lang supplies all 400 Spar retail stores in Scotland.
