Supermarkets are discussing an electronic shelf edge labelling system proposed by the Association of Newspaper and Magazine Wholesalers. ANMW md Terry Perry said the system was part of a wider project called for by retailers. "Supermarkets wanted electronic communication with wholesalers, involving features such as electronic invoicing, delivery notes and credit notes. "We formed a working group to look into the area in March last year. Now we're arranging meetings with retailers such as WHSmith Retail and Tesco. This is stage one: getting them to buy into the vision, work on individual areas, check the process and build it into their infrastructure. "We want to complete this first round in six to eight weeks." {{NEWS }}
