Independents Day on June 1 and its campaign 'My Shop is Your Shop’ has the full backing of the National Federation of Retail Newsagents.

The NFRN rallied its members to “get behind” the scheme and said that June 1 would remind its customers of “how valuable your shop is to your community”.

Independents Day was the brainchild of the Federation of Wholesale Distributors, which represents UK wholesalers, who have a number of special retailer promotions to tie in with the day.

The NFRN said it would be issuing all independent news
retailers with a four page tool kit and point-of-sale material including a window sticker to use in their shop.
