Independent retailers crying out for a lottery terminal could be in luck after the National Lottery Commission revealed it was considering a proposal from Camelot to add 8,000 terminals to its network.

Camelot had identified "latent demand" for the terminals, the lottery watchdog said. It was now considering the proposal an evaluation which NLC CEO Mark Harris described as "a significant piece of work" in return for a five-year extension to the lottery licence.

Camelot already has 28,800 terminals.
