Sir; Last week's letters page contained a vitriolic attack on the farming industry and the Conservative Party from Arthur Dunn of Worthing. While it is obvious that there were mistakes made in the initial handling of the BSE crisis, as I understand the situation all parties involved were acting on the best information available at the time. The link between BSE and CJD is still by no means clear and in fact the latest studies suggest that there is no direct link. Using crises like these to ram home what appears to be nothing more than political points does not really help anyone's understanding of the situation, or help to resolve the problems. Maybe Mr Dunn would a find better platform for his views if he stood for election. Simon White Esher {{LETTERS }}
