Northern Foods has created 80 new jobs at its Fox’s biscuits factory in Lancashire.

The new skilled roles come after the company spent £26.5m upgrading three biscuit plants with robotic production lines – changes that resulted in around 300 redundancies.

Northern will be recruiting for roles on the Kirkham site’s production line, procurement and warehousing facilities.

“We’re pleased to be starting recruitment at Kirkham as part of our investment across all our sites over this year and next,” said Fox’s MD Graham Hunter.

“As a business [that] has been around for 150 years and wants to be here in another 150 years, our £26.5m investment in new technology will help to further improve our competitiveness.”
