Northern Foods will today tell analysts that it anticipates full-year results to be in line with expectations but said trade in biscuits remained difficult.

The convenience food supplier with brands such as Fox’s and Elkes, said that the price increases needed to recover “significant rises in chocolate input costs” were being implemented.

The group which makes own-label ready meals, quiches and desserts, will tell analysts that the rest of the business, both in convenience and grocery, “continues to perform well” and that overall sales trends are “encouraging”.

Northern Foods will be publish its end of year results on May 28.
