Northern Foods has agreed to sell its Dalepak Frozen Foods business to the Irish Food Processors Group in a cash deal worth £6.4m.

Yorkshire-based Dalepak made a “marginal loss on sales” of £23m in the year to 3 April, the company said.

Dalepak’s frozen food products include meat and meat-free grilles, including the Ross and Grassington brands. As part of the deal, 143 employees will transfer to the buyer.

Northern said a proportion of the proceeds from the sale would be paid into the company’s pension scheme.
