Sir; As a regular reader of The Grocer, I am frequently delighted to see lovely pictures of happy looking pigs rooting around in fresh, clean straw. Pigs are sentient, sensitive creatures, capable of discomfort and suffering, but from the photos in The Grocer, they look most comfortable in their idyllic surroundings. Needless to say, there is never a glimpse of stalls and tethers, which I find repugnant and which are now prohibited in this country. We do import pigmeat, of course, and whenever we do from countries where these barbaric instruments are in use, can we not use every opportunity to show and educate the public as to just how abhorrent they are? This will surely encourage us all to purchase English meat, rather than foreign. Name and address supplied {{LETTERS }}
