Data from TNS shows that while the total cooking oils market grew by 4.2% year-on-year to £178m (52 w/e April 24, 2005), sales of vegetable and sunflower oil remained stagnant, growing at only 0.9% and 0.2% respectively. Growth in the category is being driven by extra virgin olive oils up 3.9% in value, driven by brands such as Filippo Berio, and standard olive oil, up 16.5%, as well as other speciality oils.
