Jamie Oliver has not been included on the government’s newly created school meals review panel.

Media reports had suggested that the celebrity chef could be asked to join the panel as a “school meals tsar” after the success of his Channel 4 documentary Jamie’s School Dinners.

Instead, Suzi Leather, former deputy chair of the Food Standards Agency, has been named as head of the panel.

She will be joined on the panel by nutritionists from the Soil Association, catering professionals, teacher union representatives and head teachers.
