E-tailer Simply Organic has raised a further £1m from private investors to fund a marketing drive and improvements to the web based ordering platform. MD Ian Smith is preparing for a big pre-Christmas direct mail push. "A lot of people will buy organic this Christmas for the first time," he said. "We've already sold large numbers of Christmas lines and have requisitioned farms to grow turkeys and seasonal fresh staples in readiness for December." More than 60% of the average £65 order is of fresh produce. Founded on original investments of £750,000, the company, which began trading last October, has 6,000 active users and 55,000 registered customers nationwide. {{NEWS }}
